In Los Angeles, the name Kayne is synonymous with power and wealth. Jenni, the daughter of wealthy financier, Richard Kayne, charts her own path towards riches and prosperity as modern jewelry designer. While it's nice to have a head start, there's no denying that she's trail blazed her own trajectory in design and fashion. The simple truth is it's not easy to be a shining star in one's field, especially one as competitive as design. Hence, it's no surprise that her Beverly Hills, shared with husband and realtor Richard Ehrlich, is an artform in rustic elegance.
When real estate agent Richard Erhlich first came upon the house, it was obvious that it was a complete fixer upper. It had great bones and character, but everything else had to go. Jenni Kayne, knew instantly that it was the right house but still had to convince her hubby that he'd love it too. After their purchase they immediately brought onboard starchitecht Jeffrey Allsbrook and took it down to the studs. After two and a half years of renovation, the power couple moved in to their new Beverly Hills home with six-month-old son Tanner.
The couple set out to create an atmosphere that was warm and neutral; comfortable, yet elegant. Armed with reclaimed barn wood from an Amish farm, they created many built-in pieces such as the bench in their informal dining room.
To make the white furniture pieces kid-friendly, Kayne and Ehrlich have an eco Scotchgard cleaner come every couple of months to clean up each piece and remove any stains. One would barely notice that young children lived in the home if it weren't for their adorable rooms.
As a trend-setter, it's clear that the Jenni Kayne relies on instinct to showcase up-and-coming trends in her home. One of the biggest trends found throughout her Beverly Hills estate is Oushak rugs. Misses Kayne's isn't afraid to break new ground in home decor and establish a new standard.
This has to be one of my favorite pools in LA. Sure, Los Angeles, is home to a gazillion of infitinity pools overlooking the smog-filled city, but that's my point. A clear day is hard to come by in LA. When pool design focuses only on the views and not on the surrounding areas, it a massive fail for the property.
Kayne and Ehrlich's pool, however, is designed to create an oasis in an otherwise hectic city. With wide-planked wood deck and a lush zen garden, it provides ample space for kids to pay, and adults to sip poolside mojitos.
