A New York Minimalist Christmas

Christmas is the one time of year that I get to enjoy New York City all to myself.  The city's millions of residents have left to go home.  Sure there's some tourists, but fewer than normal.  I don't have kids yet so I try to keep my Christmas decor simple and minimal.  I want my apartment to look like a grown up's apartment and not like an FAO Schwartz.  (If you do have kids, trust me, I get it).

A minimalist Christmas requires a few key touches that transform the room.  Here are some of my favorite ways to celebrate a minimalist Christmas.

Food, of course, is essential to any Christmas morning.  But rather than overwhelming everyone with a large breakfast spread, I find that less is more.  Treat people to eggnog macarons, sugared donuts, or pecan pie.
